New Qatari Labor Law 2020


Chapter one

Definitions and general provisions

Article 1 (Amended by Law 6/2009) (Amended by Decree of Law 2007/22)
In applying the provisions of this law, the following words and expressions shall have the meanings assigned to each of them, unless the context requires another meaning:
1- The Ministry: The Ministry of Labor.
2- The Minister: The Minister of Labor.
3- Administration: The Department of Labor at the Ministry, and the administration refers to the implementation of the provisions of Articles 12, 15, 19, 20, 22, and 23 second paragraphs paragraphs 1 and 27 of this law. National workforce development.
4- Employer: Every natural or legal person who uses one or more workers for a fee.
5- Worker: Every natural person who works for a wage with an employer and under his management or supervision.
6- Trainee: Every natural person who is associated with an employer with a contract to teach him the assets of a profession or trade, or to increase his knowledge or skill in it.
7- Juvenile: Every natural person, who has attained the age of sixteen and has not attained the age of eighteen.
8- Work: All that is exerted by human, intellectual, artistic, or physical effort for a fee.
9- Work Contract: An agreement between an employer and a worker, whether for a fixed or indefinite period, under which the worker undertakes to perform a specific work for the employer, and under his management or supervision, in exchange for a fee.
10- Basic wage: The rate of what is paid to the worker for the work performed in a specific period of time or on the basis of piece or production, and includes the annual allowance and not others.
11- Wage: The basic wage plus all the allowances, allowances and rewards that are paid to the worker for work or for his suitability, regardless of its type and method of calculation.
12- Vocational training: Teaching the trainee the principles of the profession or profession, or increasing his knowledge or skill in it, or preparing the worker to shift from one profession to another, by the necessary practical and theoretical means and programs.
13 - Licensed Doctor: The person who is licensed to practice the medical profession in the State of Qatar.
14- The Corporation: Every establishment where the private Qatari capital is not less than (51%) of its total capital, and its head office is in Qatar.
15- Establishment: Every project managed by a natural or legal person who uses one or more factors.
16- Continuous Service: The service of the worker connected to the employer himself or his legal successor, and this service is not interrupted in cases of permits or legally authorized absence or agreement, or in cases of work interruption in
The establishment for a reason that has no income from the will of the worker.
17- Temporary Work: The work whose nature requires completion within a limited period, or which is focused on a work itself and ends with its completion.
18- Temporary Work: Work that does not by its nature involve an activity that the employer engages in from an activity that takes more than four weeks.
19- Work Injury: The worker's injury in one of the occupational diseases stipulated in Table No. 1 attached to this law, or in any injury arising from an accident occurring to him during the performance of the work or because of it, or during the period of his going to
His work or his return from it, provided that the return trip is without interruption, failure or deviation from the normal way.
20- Labor organizations: the labor committees, the general committees for workers of the profession or industry, and the General Union of Qatar workers.
21- The competent medical authority: The authority designated by the National Health Authority
